Let's be honest. Mom life is messy, and challenging in so many ways, that often we don't have a lot of time to put into looking good. That's why when you're a mom, a minimal, casual cool look is a great idea. Some of my go-to pieces are actually my leather jackets, white tees, leggings and hoodies, because they are just so easy to layer on for trips to the grocery store or the park with the littles. So I thought I'd put together a list of 5 items that every mom should have in her closet to build a casual cool wardrobe.
The leather moto jacket / I've been obsessed with moto jackets for years. I just can't get enough! They are so good for layering over anything and everything, and are incredibly versatile (and snacks and baby puke wipe off easily - VERY important detail) Also, make sure to buy it with enough room to layer a hoodie under it for cold days. Here are a few of my current picks.
The white tee / Always an important staple, but make sure to get one that's layerable, so like long with maybe a bit of structure so that it can be worn on it's own as well. Picks below.
Aritzia / Zara / Raey
The black jean / Fit and wash is key here. I prefer a dark black wash for everyday wear, because it goes with everything more easily. A skinny jean with a mid to high rise and some stretch is perfect for mom life.
The oversized hoodie / I'm hoodie obsessed in the cooler months. They are so versatile and cozy, and are easy to wash when you have a newborn! Also super versatile. I like to go with a bit of an oversized fit to make it a little interesting. My picks below.
The modern sneaker / This is a MUST. You need comfy feet all year round when running after little humans, right!? I love a good white and black sneaker, and I'm always finding more that I need. Sneakers are the best. Also, I know I'm wearing slides in these photos...these slides are my absolute faves, so I've included some slide picks below.
