At this time of year we start to give up on our coats and jump into spring clothing (even if it's actually a bit cold for them). I keep seeing people wearing light jean jackets when it's actually work coat weather still...but let's pretend it's above freezing and into double digits, cool?
Right now I'm thinking about what to invest in for spring/summer, because I really do not want to be over purchasing. One of my goals for this year was to buy more consciously, and only pieces that I feel will live on for many seasons. And really, shouldn't we all be buying more mindfully!? It saves you money in the long run, and you will look chic as f&ck. So here are some of the basics that I would say are your best bets for this season. Also, this bag is not on the list but you can pick it up here
The white shirt
I prefer my white shirts majorly oversized. I like the proportion, and they are subtly sexy. This one from Magali Pascal is a dream. The slight transparency is perfect for summer and makes it so versatile. You can wear it with black jeans and boots for a cooler weather look, or throw it over your bathing suit at the beach. See? MOST versatile piece ever.

The pretty dress
This season I am all about the pretty white dress. Also black, because obviously. Black is always a win. And stands up better to baby stains. This one is from Aritzia, and their new season dresses are killer. You can also nab a similar look from Magali Pascal, who also makes some of my favourite summer dresses. Throw them on with booties and a leather jacket for cooler weather, and minimal sandals for the heat of summer.
Minimal flat sandals
When are these not perfect for summer though? It's always a safe investment because you will absolutely wear them all the time. Unless you work in an overairconditioned office, then maybe not as much. But still, weekends at the beach!
Again, this is a staple in any closet, but for transitional dressing it is a must. I recommend investing in one that you feel very strongly about it. If you've been staring at it for a year and your opinion of it hasn't changed, then buy it. You will not regret it! A quality jacket will last you forever. This one is my absolute favourite from The Arrivals.
This may not be in everyones comfort zone, but I think that in the right fit and style they can be amazing. These mom style jeans with a raw hem and button fly are my current favourites. Throw them on with a white tee or shirt, with those minimal sandals and you have the perfect warm weather look.
